The work of a single-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine is accomplished by four processes: air intake, compression, combustion expansion and exhaust, which constitute a working cycle. The piston goes through four processes to complete a working cycle of the diesel engine is called four-stroke diesel engine.
1. Human powered start: The crankshaft and flywheel are turned directly by human power with the help of a crank or rope to start the diesel engine. This is one of the simplest starting methods
Generally, hand cranking is recommended for engines of 8 hp and below
2. Electric start: Using electrical energy as the energy source, a starter motor is used to drive the diesel engine crankshaft to achieve diesel engine start.
The starter motor is an electric motor that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy, and is used as a diesel engine starter, generally with a low voltage (12 V or 24 V) DC motor. The electric starting system consists of a battery, a starter motor, a charge generator, a regulator and other components. The circuit voltage is 12 volts and is a single-wire positive hitch.
All horsepower diesel engines can be electrically started, but shop starting is generally recommended for 12 hp and above.
